St Edmund Hall Choir
Saint Edmund Hall’s choir is non-auditioning, and is very active even outside Chapel. They have performed at various events over the past year, including at St Edmund Night dinner and at numerous Christmas dinners. n the summer of 2013 they went to France on their first foreign tour, singing and recording in Roujan, Lyon and in Pontigny Abbey, which houses the shrine of St Edmund. This year has seen a trip to Worcester Cathedral and in the summer of 2014 they will be returning to Pontigny to be the choir in residence in the Abbey for a week.
One weekly service at 5.30pm every Sunday, plus two rehearsals: from 10.30am – 12 pm on Saturday, and at 4pm on Sunday afternoon.
Who can join the choir?
There are around 20 unauditioned volunteers from many colleges, and new members are always welcome.
Dinner with Sherry are provided free of charge after the Sunday service.
There are eight choral scholarships for members of the college, worth £150 each plus singing lessons. Scholarships are awarded following September auditions.
Details of the Organ Scholarships
Scholars are appointed in two out of every three years. The scholarships are worth £300 each, and also include organ also conducting lessons.
