St Peter’s College Choir
St Peter’s Choir offers a high standard of choral singing in the Anglican liturgy. The large Chapel with its spacious acoustic also makes possible a broader repertoire of oratorio (Vaughan Williams ‘Oxford Elegy’, 2011, Bruckner Mass in E minor, 2012; Bach St Matthew Passion, 2013) and opera (Marriage of Figaro, 2012). The most recent CD is of Vaughan Williams, Finzi and Elgar (‘cello concerto). Forthcoming recordings include Romantic Anthems by Bairstow, S.S.Wesley and E.W.Naylor. The Choir tours every year and there are regular exchange visits with Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. The Chapel contains a fine collection of historic instruments: organ by Fr Henry Wills (1875); grand piano by Bluthner (1906); harpsichord by Robert Goble (1986); Chamber Organ by Nicholson (2012).
Two services a week plus extra rehearsals for oratrios and operas.
