Oxford University Chorus (OUC)

Oxford’s non-auditioning concert choir

OUC Website

The Oxford University Chorus is the University’s largest non-auditioning choir. Numbering over 100 singers, they are committed to bringing together both experienced and first-time singers from all parts of the University and with any or no musical background, through the performance of larger scale choral works. The Chorus is regularly joined by Oxford’s finest vocal soloists and orchestral musicians for their termly concerts.

Recent repertoire has included: Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Handel’s Coronation Anthems, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Beethoven’s Mass in C major, and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle. The Chorus performs regularly at the Sheldonian Theatre, and has recently held concerts at the University Church, as well as various College Chapels.

As Oxford’s premier non-auditioning choir anyone is welcome to join – enthusiasm and commitment to the weekly rehearsals (Mondays, 7:30pm-9:30pm) is the only requirement. OUC appoints a new conductor annually at the end of Trinity term.
